From ancient Pueblos to the birth of the atomic age, our museum-trained docents bring to life the incredible true stories, colorful characters, and unique places that make Santa Fe 'The City Different.'
First Wednesday Lecture Series
Hear stories about the amazing diversity of people and events that make up New Mexico’s history. On the first Wednesday of each month, a leading expert shares experiences and insights about some fascinating aspect of New Mexico’s past.

Volunteer Opportunities
We invite history buffs to share their enthusiasm and knowledge of New Mexico history with visitors from around the world. Become a walking tour docent, an exhibition guide, or a library and collections aid. Or, you can provide personal support to the First Wednesday Lecture Series. Deepen your knowledge and appreciation of our beloved state while helping visitors, school groups, and scholars do the same.

All proceeds from our historic Santa Fe walking tours and other New Mexico history activities directly benefit the New Mexico History Museum in Santa Fe. Friends of History is an all-volunteer nonprofit support group. Our mission is to raise funds and public awareness for the Museum’s exhibitions and programs. Friends of History fulfills its mission by offering high quality New Mexico history programs to the public.
