Friends of History members and their guests are cordially invited toJoin us for an in-person visit to the Boyle House in the Barrio de Analco historic district.Monday, February 12th, 2024
10:00 – 11:30 a.m.
327 East De Vargas Street, Santa Fe
Step into Santa Fe’s early history as we visit the Boyle House, a significant architectural anchor in the Barrio de Analco historic district first settled in 1620. The Barrio is considered one of the oldest residential areas of European habitation in the United States earning a coveted spot on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Boyle House appears on the Urrutia Map of 1767, the earliest known map of Santa Fe. Dendrochronology dates some of the hand-peeled vigas to as early as 1720s, and some archeological findings possibly pre-date the Pueblo Revolt of 1680.
Stephen Post, Office of Archaeological Studies (retired), will join us to talk about the historical research and archaeology conducted on the site.
